Ilmaha, founded in 2019 by Karina and Daphne, a mother-daughter duo, grew out of a deep-rooted passion for creating beautiful and ethically sourced items for babies. When Daphne became pregnant with her first child, Karina felt the urge to get back behind the sewing machine and create beautiful and ethically sourced items for her baby's wardrobe.
Karina's love of handicrafts began at a young age. At just five years old, she began making clothes for her dolls, hand-sewn and made with love. At 12, her grandmother gave her her first sewing machine, which allowed her to further develop her passion. After graduating from fashion school, she created many beautiful items, ranging from wedding dresses to doll clothes. Now, 13 years later, she is once again focused on creating beautiful items, inspired by her first grandchild and with a renewed passion.
For Daphne, her first pregnancy opened the door to the world of newborns. She discovered that there are many beautiful products on the market, but also that there's still room for improvement, particularly in terms of materials, design, and ease of use. Together with Karina, Daphne searches for inspiration for new products and manages Ilmaha's purchasing, webshop, and social media channels.
Together, Karina and Daphne are a dynamic team committed to creating high-quality, fair-trade products for the very youngest, with love and dedication as the driving force behind everything they do.
